Everyday homemade granola is the only recipe you’ll ever need. With subtle hints of honey, vanilla, and cinnamon, it’s the perfect addition to a bowl of yogurt and fresh berries. My kids enjoy it as a cereal with milk. You can easily customize the flavors by changing up the nuts, dried fruit, and spices. Simple, delicious, and easy to make!

Everyday Homemade Granola Variations:

  • Maple/Cranberry/Pecan: Add 1/2 cup dried cranberries, 1/2 cup pecans, and substitute maple syrup for honey.
  • Cherry/Almond: Add 1/2 cup dried cherries, 1/2 cup slivered almonds, and 1/4 tsp almond extract.
  • All Nuts: Add 1/2 cup pecans and 1/2 cup walnuts.
  • Date/Coconut/Macadamia Nuts: Add 1/2 cup chopped dates, 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut, and 1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts.
  • Extra Fiber: Add 1/4 cup flax seeds for a fiber boost.

Everyday Homemade Granola

Simply delicious granola is the only granola recipe you will ever need. Easy to make and customize.

Course Breakfast, Snack

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup nuts or dried fruit (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300°F
  • In a large bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, cinnamon.
  • In a small bowl, stir together oil, honey, salt and vanilla.
  • Pour the liquid ingredients into the oat mixture. Stir well until everything is evenly coated. If using, stir in the chopped nuts.
  • Spread the mixture on an ungreased baking sheet and place it in the oven.
  • Stir every fifteen minutes. After about 45 minutes, remove from the oven. The granola should be a rich golden brown. Let cool on the counter. The granola will clump and cluster together as it cools. Add any dried fruit once it is cool.
  • Once cool, store in an airtight container at room temperature. It will keep for about two weeks. One recipe fits perfectly into a pint-sized mason jar.

Notes

Bake at 350°F: After 15 minutes, stir, then stir every 5 minutes until golden brown, usually about 30 minutes total cooking time.
Double It: This recipe doubles well. I usually make a double batch to feed my family of five.
