After Halloween, Valentine’s Day, or Christmas, I’m always looking for creative ways to use up extra candy. These candy rice crispy treats are quick, simple, and loved by both kids and adults alike!

You can use any candy in these cereal treats! Recently, I split the recipe to make two versions: one with chocolate candies and one with Skittles and Nerds. We have a non-chocolate eater in the house, so everyone was happy with their own treat mix!
Candy Rice Crispy Ingredients
With only 4 ingredients, Candy Rice Crispy Treats come together in under 15 minutes!
- Crispy Rice Cereal
- Marshmallows
- Unsalted Butter
- Candy
See the recipe card for detailed quantities.
How Much Candy?
Use 1–2 cups of candy to make these treats. The amount varies based on candy size. For example, smaller candies like Nerds need only about a cup when combined with Skittles, while chunkier options like chopped Twix, Snickers, Milky Way, and Kit Kats need closer to 2 cups. Feel free to sprinkle extra candy on top if you want even more!

Candy Rice Crispy Treat Storage
These bars will keep for 3–5 days in an airtight container at room temperature—but I doubt they’ll last that long!

Candy Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients
- 10 ounces Marshmallows
- 8 cups Crispy Rice Cereal
- 4 Tablespoons Unsalted butter
- 1-2 cups candy (cut into small pieces)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- Melt Butter: In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
- Melt Marshmallows: Add marshmallows to the bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stirring with a greased spoon. Repeat until the marshmallows are melted and smooth.
- Add in Rice Crispy cereal: Quickly add in the rice crispy cereal and stir with a greased spoon, evenly coating the cereal with the marshmallow mixture.
- Add in Candy: Stir in the candy, then pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Press down with parchment paper, compressing the treats and spreading the treats evenly. Decorate with any additional candies, if desired.
